This is one of only 100 medals specially minted by the Shanghai Mint, in 2017, in commemoration of the World's Fair of Money, held in Denver, Colorado, in the United States. While there was a 30g version, of which 1,000 were minted, this is the 39g piedfort version with a limited mintage of only 100 medals. This medal contains 39 grams of .999 fine silver. This medal has been graded PF70 (Proof 70) by NGC (the Numismatic Guaranty Company), which is the highest grade awarded by NCG for proof medals. This medal also received their Ultra Cameo designation. This designation goes beyond “Cameo.” It signifies a stronger contrast between the frosted design elements and the deeply mirrored fields. In an “Ultra Cameo” coin, the frosting on the design elements is more pronounced, creating a bold and striking appearance. This medal also received NGC's Early Releases designation, indicating the medal was received by NGC for grading within 30 days from its initial release. According to the NGC coin census, as of 6/4/24, of these 100 medals, 96 total have been graded by NGC. Of these 96, only 9 total have received this highest grade of PF 70 Ultra-Cameo. The medal also is accompanied by a numbered certificate of authenticity from the Shanghai Mint (#44 of 100) and this number also appears on the medal's edge along with the silver purity.
