Description: Up for auction is a 1985 Gary Allenson Toronto Blue Jays jersey (first Blue Jays playoff year) and this jersey has great Blue Jays history as it was issued for 3 different players from 1984-1986. Jerseys from the Exhibition Stadium Blue Jays era are very difficult to aquire (and especially with this much wear. Please note: This jersey has amazing wear and history as listed below. This jersey was originally to be prepared for Jim Gott in 1984 but Gott ended up not using this one during his 109 innings pitched in 1984 (his last in Toronto) and it was not used. This is why the jersey has 1984 tagging in the rear hem. The jersey is then worn by Allenson in 1985 after not being used in 1984. This Jersey was then worn in 1986 by rookie Mark Eichorn (after Allenson retires following the 1985 season) and the Eichorn nameplate was put on top of Allenson’s (which Gary’s name was still sewn on underneath from 1985) and was used by Eichorn for use in his 1986 rookie season. We do not own or have the removed Eichorn nameplate. You can still see the outline where the Eichorn nameplate was removed, showing the original Allenson name still fully intact from 1985. Allenson’s only year with the Blue Jays before retiring was 1985. The included signed 8x10 photo of Allenson wearing this jersey during the 1985 season is included with the jersey for providence and is great to display with the jersey A great piece of Toronto Blue Jays team history. And one with amazing wear and team history.
