I have steam cleaned the cap, but there is some darkening from the aged starch used to hold the hat's form. These dark spots are more prevalent on the removable inner cap than the external shell. The cap measures from side to side 12 inches long and from front to back 8.25 inches long. Each row of lace meausres 21 mm long. Each of the enameled metal beaded accents measure almost 4 mm in diameter. Originally, there was bird cage netting attached to the piece. It was in pretty poor condition, so I have removed that feature. Crafted in the United States, this original piece is one size fits all and perfect for vintage lovers.
