1914 CANADA in WWI Nice FULLY ORIGINAL "Large Cent" LOWEST Mintage KING GEORGE V

Description: FOR the complete story, FULL DETAILS and BIG CLEAR PICTURES, Please SEE THE DESCRIPTION 1914 CANADA in WWI Nice FULLY ORIGINAL "Large Cent" LOWEST Mintage KING GEORGE V Description This is a nice, fully original, light to moderately circulated, 1914 King George V "Large Cent" from Canada. Canada had struck “Large Cents” since 1858. The last one was produced in May of 1920. Then Canada went to the “Small Cent” matching the 19-millimeter size of the “Lincoln Cents” long circulating in the USA.   The "Large Cents" of King George V were issued each year between 1911 and 1920. This 1914 date had the lowest mintage of them all. The George V "Large Cents" are different from all the earlier Victoria and Edward coins in that they have the word "Canada" moved to the reverse.   When Britain declared war on Germany on August 4, 1914, Canada, as a Dominion within the British Empire, was automatically at war. However, the Canadian government had the freedom to determine the country’s level of involvement. From a population of just under 8 million in 1914, approximately seven percent of the total population of Canada was in uniform at some point during the war, and hundreds of thousands of additional Canadians worked on the home front in support of the war.   Weight: 5.63 Grams, 25.4 Millimeters, .95 Copper .04 Tin & .01 Zinc. Mintage: 3,405,958. "Standard Catalog of World Coins" (1901-2000) by Krause-Mishler. #21. "A Charlton Standard Catalog of Canadian Coins" 70th Edition. Obverse: GEORGIVS V DEI GRA: REX ET IND: IMP: • George the Fifth, by the grace of God, King and Emperor of India. • King George V, the great-grandfather of King Charles III.   Reverse: ONE • CENT • CANADA • 1914 • Sixteen Maple leaves.   The Coin: A pleasing example of the lowest mintage date. Still fully original, the color is natural and it has some light wear and a few marks.
