Description: the first edition (1901) of "Modern Pen Drawings: European and American" compiled by Charles Holme.this book was apparently printed in 2 different sizes, this is the larger size. it has a half leather/ green cloth hardcover. it has gilding at the top of the text block, but the other 2 sides are uncut.hundreds of illustrations from the era, many of them early Art Nouveau style, or just kind of morbid or gothic, although there's a wide variety of subjects, including portraits, sketches, animals, landscapes, literary scenes, and ornamentations and illustrations for other books.some pages fold out.some pages are on parchment (i think?), and those pages always have a blank page behind them, for protection, i guess.some works have tasteful nudity, so please keep that in mind. wear to covers & spine. some pencil marks on blank front pages, including a previous price. inside textblock is tight and secure. please see pics. 12" x 8" x 1.25".216 pages, although they count the parchment + accompanying blank sheet together as 1 page.
