18th Century Antique Spanish Colonial Petaca Tooled Leather Coffer Box Chest

Description: A beautiful Spanish colonial tooled leather petaca with hand forged iron lock, 18th Century. Highly detailed leather with foliage design and scalloped edges on lid. Lid opens and closes and lock is secure, unsure if lock works. Leather is original with wear to surface, patina and rub marks, scattered losses and splits to leather, etc. The leather at the rear has detached from the wood body, appears to have been tacked on to act as a hinge. Box can have hinges attached and leather resecured without too much effort. Please see all photos for condition. Approx. 15.25” x 9.75”d x 4” tall Ships well packed and fully insured
