1897 DATED ALPHA EUCAINE RARE EARLY SYNTHETIC COCAIN ANESTHETIC COBALT BOTTLE

Description: This is a very rare 1897 dated cobalt Alpha-Eucaine labeled hand blown cobalt blue bottle from Germany, which was the first man made substitute for cocain. Eucaine was primarily used in eye, ear, nose and throat surgery, as well as in dentistry. Its use continued into the 1930s. This small cobalt blue glass bottle has no embossing in the glass that I can see, but the original label reads One Eighth Ounce ALPHA-EUCAINE (Eucaine Hydrochlorate A) U.S.A. Patent No.591483 dated Oct.12th,1897 from E.Schering Manufacturing Chemist Berlin, Germany...The silver foil seal over top of cork is embossed TRADE MARK FABRIK MARKE with Star of David in middle.....Hand blown in mold.....smooth base...hand tooled square ring lip.....cobalt blue...round...2 1/8"tall...Perfect never opened condition with no chips or damage.I had to open the outer wrapper to take pictures of the bottle that was inside.
