Description: UPDATE: Although this rare book has considerable value, I have lowered the asking price from $950 because these are hard economic times for buyers and it is a shame for a book such as this to not to have a permanent place in someone's collection. It is rare to find a book such as this in the United States. It was printed in Athens, Greece, in 1884 and was taken out of the country before the 1932 Antiquities Law passed that disallowed antiques after that year to leave Greece. After extended research, our local bookseller believes that only 5 of these books exist in the U.S. today. He estimated this rare book's value to be up to $5,000. This current price of $100 is DEEPLY discounted. The book is a uniquely Greek Orthodox Christian perspective on the New Testament scriptures. Our bookseller believes the Greek N.T. is a priest's missal, a liturgical prayer book used for teaching. It's impossible to know unless a person can read Greek text. When I received the book it had a hand-made cover with stickers on it such as an older child would decorate with. I removed the cover as it was disintegrated. There is penciled script in the back of the book, which leads me to believe a child owned the book. It is a mystery how a child had a priest's prayer book with commentary. I forgot to measure the book before I wrapped it for shipping, but it is about 7" long and 5.5" wide. As to be expected, the book's condition is in fair, but decent, condition. This rare, unique book will be shipped USPS, insured and with a required adult signature to receive it. This is truly a special book worthy of your consideration.
